And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. Luke 2:7
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior , which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; ye shall find the Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, goodwill toward men. Luke 2: 8-14
Behold there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews for we have seen his star in the east and are come to worship him. . . Lo, the star which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. . . they fell down and worshipped him: . . .they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. Matthew 2: 1-10

My Baby Boy
I wrapped my new Baby In all that was here; The cloth, though clean Is a little thread-bare.
The angels are singing As my heart bursts with joy And the shepherds bow low O'er my new Baby Boy
He's so precious and small This sweet Child of mine . . . With such earthy features Is He really divine?
Dare I touch His sweet head Fuzzy hair, soft as down . . . In the manger I'll lay Him While our guests gather round
This looks just like mine!
ReplyDeleteMy second nativity set, bought at my local Brooks drug store, looks quite similar as well.
